Which Devices are Used to Play at Casino Days

If you are reading this, chances are that you are doing so from a mobile device of some kind. In this research paper, we are diving deeper into which type of devices our Southern Asian Casino Days players are using.

Gaining a better understanding of which type of device and device models players use allows us to ensure that our website works optimally on those devices. It also shows us which models aren’t popular among our South Asian players while it gives you a better understanding of your fellow players! What devices do they use? What models are they using the most? How come these choices are so popular among players within this area?

Mobile vs. Desktop

While online casinos began their journey on stationary computer machines, they only got to stay exclusive to computers for a short period of time. As soon as the birth of smartphones and more affordable Internet connections became the norm, online gamblers moved their gaming sessions from their stationary computers to portable ones.

Today, a whopping 96.60% of our players in South Asia use their mobile phones to play! Only 2.90% still use a computer, and just 0.50% make use of a tablet when playing.

Some of the reasons behind this massive difference in device type are affordability, technical advantages, as well as cheaper and more obtainable internet plans for mobiles than those for computers.

Which Mobile Brands Are Used

While we know that mobile devices are the clear winners among our players, it’s also interesting to see which type of mobile brands are being used. iOS devices are popular among European players but only grab the attention of a mere 2.23% of our South Asian players.

Instead, we can see that Chinese brands Xiaomi (21.90%) and Vivo (20.79%) are preferred by most players, followed by South Korean mobile brand Samsung (18.10%) in third place.

These statistics are interesting, especially when looking at the fact that Samsung grabs first place in the number of users worldwide, followed by Apple and then Xiaomi. To imagine that Apple places ahead of Xiaomi worldwide but isn’t even reaching 3% of our South Asian users is fascinating!

Data On Android Footprint in South Asia

One major reason for the high number of Android users versus the low number of Apple users is the operating system.

While Apple uses iOS, Xiaomi, Vivo, Samsung, Realme, and OPPO all use Android, and Android holds close to 79% of the market share in Asia, compared to 68.79% worldwide.

Android is the preferred operating system for a plethora of users, the main reason being that it is open-sourced, allowing for greater accessibility of apps and software. An open-source OS makes it easier to create and release applications, as the review processes for each app are much less stringent than that of Apple.

Another reason for the strong Android footprint is the affordability of the devices. The vast majority of mobile brands used by our South Asian Casino Days players are either Chinese or South Korean, and they are also manufactured locally. Depending on the brand, production of the device is made in countries like India, China, South Korea, and Vietnam, which cuts the cost greatly while also making them widely available, even in the most rural areas of South Asia.

And, with influencers and tech reviews putting emphasis on Android devices, the choice of mobile phone brand and OS becomes easy; Android has a much wider range of products and caters to the Asian online casino market in ways that Apple can’t due to technical limitations.

Another reason for Android being the prime choice of our Asian players is the integration of Google Pay. While Google Pay can be used on iOS devices, it comes pre-installed on most Android phones in a similar manner as Apple Pay is pre-installed on iOS devices. And while Apple Pay and Google Pay work in the same way, their penetration within Asian countries is vastly different, with Google Pay being far more available than its iOS counterpart.
